117. Solving a chemistry problem
Content: 5.rar 53,7 kB
Product description
Determine the molar mass of lactoglobulin from the following data on the equilibrium centrifugation of its solution:
x, cm 4.90 4.95 5.00 5.05 5.10 5.15
s, g/l 1.30 1.46 1.64 1.84 2.06 2.31
where x is the distance from the axis of rotation of the centrifuge rotor, c is the protein concentration. Other necessary data: temperature 20 degrees, specific partial volume of dissolved protein 0.7514 cm3/g; solvent density 1.034 g/cm3, centrifuge rotor speed 182.8 s-1. (Note: in more recent studies, it has been found that lactoglobulin molecules aggregate with each other during centrifugation, so the calculation result from these data does not correspond to the molar mass of individual protein molecules) .
