Currently, the use of end airfoils is widely used in large or small aircraft.
For the first time the end airfoils (KAP) of a special form, called winglets (winglets) began to study American researchers led by Whitcomb. The first studies in wind tunnels suggest that when installing on existing CAP aircraft can reduce fuel consumption by about 7%.
Two examples of such studies of the effect of the end of the aerodynamic surfaces on aircraft performance and the results are given in the electronic book
