A steel ball of mass m = 8.0 g, flying horizontally at a velocity of 600 m / s, falls into a bar of mass M = 4 m, attached to the wall by a spring with a rigidity k = 24 kN / m. Assuming that the trajectory of the ball is perpendicular to the surface of the bar and coincides with the axis of the spring, determine the value of the maximum compression of the spring, if the stress was: 1) absolutely inelastic; 2) absolutely elastic.
Write down the law of change in the deformation of the spring as a function of time for cases 1 and 2.
