Subnautica is an underwater adventure game combined with an alien oceanic planet. You are waiting for a huge open world full of wonders and dangers!
Immerse yourself in a huge underwater world
You are wrecked in a wonderfully oceanic world where the only path leads down. Subnautica´s oceans range from sun-drenched coral reefs to treacherous deep-sea crevices, lava fields and bioluminescent underwater rivers. Control your oxygen supply while exploring algae, plateaus, reefs, and winding cave systems. Waters are teeming with living creatures: some of them are useful, many are dangerous.
Collect, create and survive
After an emergency landing in a rescue capsule, the race begins over time in search of water, food, and the creation of equipment for survival. Collect resources in the ocean around you. Create knives, diving equipment and personal water transport. Go deeper and further in search of rarer resources that will allow you to create more advanced items.
Construct underwater dwellings
Build bases on the seabed. Choose the layout and elements, control the strength as the depth and pressure increase. Use the base for storing resources, transport docking and replenishing oxygen reserves as you explore the vast ocean.
Solve the mystery
What happened to this planet? Signs that something is wrong abound. What made you crash? What infects marine life? Who built the mysterious buildings scattered across the ocean? Can you find a way to get out of the planet alive?
Break the food chain
The ocean is replete with living creatures: use the ecosystem for your own purposes. Lure and distract a dangerous creature with fresh fish or just swim with all your strength to avoid stray predators gnashing their jaws.
Overcome pressure
Build a Reactive Standalone Armored Suit (or "CRAB") and explore the extreme depth and heat. Modify the costume with drills, torpedo installations, propulsion guns, hooks, and much more.
Be wary of the night
When the sun goes down, predators appear. The ocean does not forgive those who were caught unexpectedly in the dark. Places that are safe to explore during the day become insidious at night, but also reveal such beauty that one who never avoids darkness will see.
Dive below the seabed
Below the seabed, cave systems branch from dark close passages to large caves, lit by bioluminescent life and burning lava flows. Explore the world under the ocean floor, but watch out for oxygen levels and watch out for threats lurking in the dark.

About the development team
Subnautica is created by Unknown Worlds, a small studio founded by Charlie Cleveland and Max McGuire, which has its roots in the 2003 Natural Selection modification on Half-Life. The team is scattered around the world: from the United States of America to Great Britain, France, the Czech Republic, Russia, Thailand, Australia and many other places. There is a central office in San Francisco, California, which serves as a base for the entire team.
