Train Simulator: Norfolk Southern Coal District Route Add-On (Steam key) - RU

Requires an original game.

The beautiful Mon Country Line, laid through the very heart of Pennsylvania, USA, now also as a route for Train Simulator, introduces you to mile-long coal trains and an unusual stretch of railroad running right along a city street.

The Monongahela Railway was originally a joint project of Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) and Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad (P&LE). In the early 1900s, the two companies acquired many railway lines in the area, and by 1930 the Monongahela route (‘Mon Line’) had a total length of over 170 miles and served numerous coal mines.

Located in the Pennsylvania Coal District, the line is now owned by Norfolk Southern, but CSX Transportation also has the right to use the tracks. There are several coal mines along the route, the largest of which, Bailey Mine and Emerald Mine, are connected by rail to the freight fleet in West Brownsville, from where coal trains continue on their way to power plants or ports to send coal for export.

About 20 million tons of coal are transported annually through the line, most of which is subsequently reloaded onto river barges. The main part of the route consists of four branches: Manor, Ten Mile Run, West Brownsville and Loveridge. In addition, the route includes a section where cars are forced to share a section of the main street in West Brownsville with full-size freight trains.

The route profile is relatively flat, as the road runs along the Monongahela River to the Millsboro settlement, and then along the Mile Creek Stream to Waynesburg Station and Emerald Mine. The route then turns northeast following the bends of the Browns Creek stream. The last 15 miles pass through a truly virgin nature and end with a headland at Bailey Mine, after which the coal mining area ends.

The route includes a 50-mile stretch of Bailey Mine-West Brownsville route and the ES44AC GE Evolution diesel locomotive in Norfolk Southern. The locomotive has a power of 4,000 hp. and has a top speed of 75 mph, making it an ideal locomotive for working with long coal trains on the Mon line.

You can load coal into railcars on your own using existing loading facilities at Bailey Mine and Emerald Mine, and then use all your train driving experience following the branch along the Monongahela River, which includes scrap paths north of Brownsville, a repair base for barges and construction routes in the south, as well as a transshipment base in Alicia.
