29. Solving a chemistry problem
Content: 1.rar 86,98 kB
Product description
1. Compose the electronic and electron-graphic formula of the metal atom. Indicate its main oxidation states, the value of the standard electrode potential and draw a conclusion about its chemical activity.
Metal: Fe
2. Physical properties of the metal.
3. Chemical properties of a metal: using chemical reactions, describe the chemical properties of a given metal when interacting with:
- non-metals, oxygen, halogens, water.
- with acids - HCl, HNO3 (different concentrations), H2SO4 (different concentrations)
- For refractory and precious metals - with mixtures of acids HCl HNO3
- with NaOH solution
4. On the basis of thermodynamic calculations, determine ∆S ∆G ∆H of the reaction of the interaction of an element with an oxidizing acid and water. Specify the conditions for their implementation (temperature, pressure, acid concentration).
5. Characterize the corrosion behavior of the metal in aggressive environments (acidic and alkaline) and in atmospheric conditions (in the presence of H2O and CO2 vapors). Give the equation of anodic and cathodic processes that occur on the surface of the metal. How does contacting your metal with a metal in a prefabricated structure that has a more positive electrode potential affect the corrosion rate?
6. Suggest measures to reduce the corrosion damage of the metal (metal and non-metal coatings, changing the pH of the environment, constructive measures).
7. Hover over the scope of the use of metal in engineering
