Product description

1. In a U-shaped tube, one elbow of which has an inner radius of 1.00 mm and the other 1.00 cm, there is a liquid with a density of 0.95 g/cm3, which wets the vessel walls to a limited extent (cos θ > 0). In the narrower knee, the level of the fluid meniscus is 1.90 cm higher than in the wider one. Calculate the surface tension of the liquid by assuming the radius of curvature of the meniscus to be equal to the radius of the tube at each elbow.
