24. Solving a chemistry problem
Content: 329.docx 18,37 kB
Product description
329. For complete desalting by the ion exchange adsorption method, V m3 of natural or diluted wastewater is sequentially passed through columns containing m1, kg of cation exchanger in H-form, DOEcat mol-eq/kg and m2 of anion exchanger in OH-form, DOEanno mol-eq/ kg (Table 3.2)
1) Write the equations of ion exchange reactions occurring on a cation exchanger and anion exchanger with the participation of ions of each salt.
2) Determine the sequence in which the ions will be adsorbed on the cation exchanger and anion exchanger, arranging them in a row according to decreasing adsorbability. 3) Convert the concentration of salts in an aqueous solution, expressed in g/l, into the molar concentration of equivalents (mol equiv/l) and determine the total concentration of salts in (mol equiv/l).
4) Calculate the quantity (m1 and m2, kg) of cation exchanger and anion exchanger sufficient to desalinize a given volume of water.
