126. Solving a chemistry problem
Content: 38а.rar 27,6 kB
Product description
38a. To establish the optimal conditions for the separation of a three-component mixture by gas-liquid chromatography using a column of length L, a chromatogram of the mixture was obtained, and on the resulting chromatogram for each component, the retention distance l and the peak width at the middle of its height a1/2 were measured
Using the data below, quantify the separation efficiency and selectivity of the components of the mixture by calculating for each component the number of theoretical plates n, the height equivalent to the theoretical plate, HETP, and the degree of separation Rs of the two components leaving the column in series.
What components are not completely separated under the studied chromatographic conditions?
Option L, m No. mixture component l, mm a1/2mm
a 1 1 26.5 2.5
