A horizontal pipeline of steel pipes, a diagram of which is shown in Fig. 1 has a section with a parallel pipe connection consisting of two lines of length l1 and l2 and diameters d1 and d2. At point B, the flow rate QB is set.
From an open reservoir in which a constant level is maintained, a water flowing into the atmosphere flows out to the atmosphere through a steel pipeline (equivalent roughness ke = 0.1 mm), consisting of pipes of various diameters d and various lengths l, temperature t ° С (Fig. 1).
It is required:
1. To establish the diameters of the pipes in the sections AB and CD at the marginal cost.
2. Determine the distribution of costs on the 1st and 2nd lines of parallel connection of pipelines.
3. Determine the necessary pressure at point A to ensure the specified flow rates QB, QC and QD for a given free head (exceeding the piezometric line above the earth´s surface) at the end of the pipeline Hсв if the lengths of sections AB and CD are known.
4. Build a piezometric line along the length of the pipeline.
