Description:
Not all beaches and surfing are in California — The stunning Pacific Surfliner® LA – San Diego route for Train Simulator takes you through some of the most spectacular scenery in the U.S. state, past golden beaches and into vast urban landscapes. The 128-mile route between California´s two largest cities was first operated by Pacific Surfliner® in 2000 and today carries more than 2.8 million passengers annually. Amtrak, Metrolink, and Coaster trains run regularly on the route, as well as a variety of passenger and freight operations. The route begins in downtown Los Angeles, from where Pacific Surfliner® trains depart from the art deco Union Station before heading into the city´s commercial district and vast freight yards loaded with intermodal transportation both day and night. After Fullerton (a famous place for railroad enthusiasts), the line passes by the imposing Angel Stadium, the home of the Los Angeles Angels baseball team from Anaheim. Many stations along the route are unique in style, including San Juan Capistrano, most famous for its central basilica, which is part of the station building, and the crossing level that crosses the platform itself. Heading south, the route follows a single-track line from the San Clemente Pier and simultaneously reaches the Golden coast of California — stunning beaches and magnificent sunsets are just a small part of the attraction of this beautiful route. As the route heads inland to Sorrento Valley, the trains climb the challenging Miramar Hill, famous for its long climb and a serious challenge for even the most powerful locomotives. At the top of the hill, the path splits, and passenger trains begin to approach California´s second largest city and Union Station, located between the city´s majestic skyscrapers and the southern terminal of Pacific Surfliner® services. This route package includes a full Pacific Surfliner® train, led by an Amtrak-painted EMD F59PHI diesel locomotive. The F59PHI class was built from 1994 to 2001 and is a popular sight on many U.S. passenger trains. The steerable cabin also allows authentic operation of the Pacific Surfliner®, as the train moves in push-pull mode due to the lack of turning devices at both ends of the route. An interesting combination of lazy coastal towns in Southern California and single–track railroads by the ocean, semi-mountainous areas and busy suburban intersections, impressive landscapes and atmospheric night lighting make the Pacific Surfliner® LA - San Diego route an ideal challenge for novice machinists. Note: Pacific Surfliner® LA - San Diego includes basic Train Simulator technology. To play Pacific Surfliner® LA - San Diego, launch Train Simulator 2014 from your Steam library after purchase. Additionally, if you already own Train Simulator 2014, you can add Pacific Surfliner® LA - San Diego to your existing collection.
