Our story begins in a corner of Allraan, a melting pot of peoples, cultures, and values. With the help of swords and magical objects known as "Rune Lenses," the history of the land has been shaped by the alliances and aggressions of its people, beastmen, elves, and desert dwellers. The Galdean Empire has surpassed other peoples and discovered a technology that amplifies the magic of the Rune Lenses.

The Empire is currently scouring the continent for an artifact that will further enhance its power.

It is on one of these expeditions that a meeting occurs between a young and gifted Imperial officer, Sein Kesling, and a boy from a remote village named Nova.
