Why do people order a family portrait?
A family portrait taken every few years provides a precious and lasting memory of what the family looked like “back then” and also provides a sweet reminder of the children growing up. Family portraits also document the growth of a family as new generations join the family.
“In our area, the number one reason clients contact us for a family portrait is when the whole family is getting together for a special occasion,” says Robert Love, a photography instructor. “Usually, the parents have one or more older children who no longer live at home. Often, this person is married and has a family of their own. This provides an opportunity to create a three-generational keepsake. “With such extended families, we can capture anywhere from eight to thirty people in one frame.” Having family members together in one place also gives you the opportunity to capture multiple family portraits.
