Description:
⚡ Attention! Start requires Field of Glory II: Medieval.
Feudalism had no such dominating influence in Spain and Italy, as in Northwest Europe. Both of these lands had the unique factors influencing warfare. In 1050 more than a half of the Iberian Peninsula was under the power of the Islamic states, the area known as Andalusia. After disintegration of the Omeyadsky caliphate in 1031 Andalusia was divided into several small Muslim states, known as the Emirates of Tayfa. Tayfa often were at war among themselves because of what they couldn´t resist to the bigger Christian kingdom Castile which was created in 1037 with absorption of the Kingdom Leon. It was the true beginning of Christian Rekonkista who will come to the end only in 1492. To stop Christian attack, in 1086 the taifsky emir of Seville invited murabitsky berbers of North Africa to enter Spain. It worked not as it was planned for тайф as after the victory over Castilians in fight at Sagrakhas Murabity quickly included the most part of the Emirates of Tayfa in the empire. The empire Murabit was occupied in 1147 by the competing Berber sect Almokhadov. These events were serious failure for the Spanish Christian kingdoms, but they recovered to win a great victory over almokhada in Las-Navas-de-Tolosa in 1212 which forever broke the power of Muslims in Spain. Soon there was only an emirate Granada, but already as the vassal of Castile. During this period there were also frequent collisions between the states of the same religion, both Muslim and Christian soldiers often didn´t hesitate to serve princes of other religion. In Northern Italy big cities always tried to keep a certain degree of independence and often furiously fought against attempts of the emperor of the Sacred Roman Empire to impose the power over them. They became more and more rich on trade, and by the end of the 11th century their city militias became a support of the Italian armies, having eclipsed a role of knights feudal lords. In 1176 the northern Italian cities formed Lombardsky league and won a great victory over the emperor Frederick I Barbarossa in fight at Lenyano. It was a part of wars of gvelf and gibellin. Papacy and the Empire originally quarreled because of the one who had the right to appoint church officials, it was known as "The conflict about investiture". Gibellina were those who supported the emperor of the Sacred Roman Empire while gvelfa were the set supporting the Father. In spite of the fact that the dispute on investiture was resolved in 1122, the conflict between papacy and the empire, gvelfam and gibellinam continued hundreds of years. In the Southern Italy Normans grew up from modest mercenaries to conquer all southern Italy and to found the great kingdom Sicily after gaining the island at Arabs. After the line of Norman kings ended when Wilhelm II died, without having left male successors, the throne was passed to the German imperial dynasty by Gogenshtaufenov. In 1266 the father urged Karl Anzhuysky to attack Gogenshtaufenov and after the victory in fight at Benevento occupied the kingdom for himself.
