For some fifty years, the Earth, striving for an alluring future, found itself on the verge of death, engulfed in environmental disasters, global war and the collapse of human civilization. It is at this time that Maelstrom takes place. In this devastated world, the extinction of the planet´s resources has split what remains of humanity in two: the urban freedom fighters, the Remnants, and the technologically advanced Ascendancy Corporation. Now they have to confront a new threat, the invasion of cruel aliens, Hi-Jenty, without stopping a desperate internecine war for supremacy and survival. Over the course of many missions, you will have the opportunity to command on behalf of various characters, perform various combat missions using tactics and weapons that are different for each faction, even alter the landscape and transform the troops. Maelstrom puts you in control of the forces of nature in 2007´s most insane, destructive and action-packed real-time strategy game.

You will have to manage each of the three factions represented in the game - "Remnants", "Ascension" and the Hi-Jenty aliens - each with their own personality, strengths and tactics.
Change the landscape and use the elements as a strategic weapon: you can create valleys, dig lakes, freeze water, melt ice, create tornadoes, and even control the wind.
As the game progresses, the characters acquire experience and new skills.
