The story of the famous writer, animal painter "Zaimka in the forest", tells about the life of Barnaul early XX century.

This version of the story created MD Zverev in 1985 specifically for the Altai publication, so it only includes chapters related to Barnaul period of the writer´s life - part of the "Childhood" and the beginning of "Youth"; In addition, the author has expanded chapters on Barnaul (eg "Antiquities distant witness" and "forester Cap"), reversed conclusion.
