Half a century after the Red Frigate resistance team and their marauder allies liberated Mars from the brutal Earth Defense Force, harmony on Mars is once again threatened, but this time by a deadly force shrouded in mystery.
When the massive Terraformer, providing Mars with Earth-like air and weather, was destroyed, the atmosphere fell into chaos, and violent storms and thunderstorms engulfed the planet. To survive, the colonists fled to underground mines and built a network of habitable caves.
Five years later, Darius Mason, grandson of Martian Revolution heroes Alec Mason and Samaya, runs a profitable business in Bastion, the underground hub of colonist activity. Mining, refining, hired labor—if the work is dangerous, Darius is the man for you. Few normal people now risk venturing onto the devastated surface; only contractors like Darius and smugglers transporting cargo between settlements continue their forays.
When Darius is drugged while opening a mysterious mine in an old marauder temple, he unleashes a long-dormant evil, thus bringing Armageddon to Mars. With marauder and colonist settlements torn apart, only Darius and the Red Frigate can save humanity. The battle will send them across a storm-ravaged planet and into its depths—into the very heart of an unspeakable threat.
