As part of an expedition sent to find a home beyond Earth, you will write the next chapter for humanity, leading your people to new frontiers and creating a new civilization in space. Explore and colonize an alien planet, explore new technologies, assemble mighty armies, create incredible wonders and shape the face of your new world. When you go on a trip, you have to make important decisions. From your choice of sponsor and the composition of your colony to the final path you choose for your civilization, each decision opens up new possibilities.
Sid Meyer´s Civilization: Beyond Earth is a sequel to Rising Tide: After the first wave of huge colonist ships left Earth, humanity´s jubilation was short-lived. Those who remained engaged in a fierce struggle for the rapidly dwindling resources of their barren homeworld. During this turbulent time, two new factions emerged. These newcomers were based not on the idealism of their predecessors, but on opportunism, resilience, ruthlessness and, above all, on the desire for their own survival. Now, many decades after their first landing on a new planet, the proud participants of the first expeditions beyond the Earth look up and see how the skies are darkening with the appearance of a new generation of pioneers.
Beyond the Earth expanded the action of the Civilization franchise, turning it from a historical setting into a possible future of science fiction. Rising Tide goes beyond Earth, reaching new frontiers on the surface of the planet and under its seas, adding even more choices and diplomacy as you continue to make “another turn” towards a new vision for the future of humanity.
An addition to the Exoplanets map set: The Exoplanets map set includes six custom maps based on real exoplanets. Specialized scripts create randomized geographical schemes every time a new game starts, which ensures even greater replayability in new alien worlds.
