Successful businessman M. has come

A successful businessman M. received a letter from his ex-wife P., containing a request to send her a large sum of money necessary for an urgent bone marrow transplant operation from their common adult son. P. reported that he was seriously ill, and at present only an emergency operation can save his life.
M. did not answer the letter and P. did not fulfill the request, although he had money. A month later, the son died.
