In «This War of Mine» you are not playing a soldier of elite troops, and for a group of civilians trying to survive in the besieged city, experiencing a lack of food, medicines and constant danger from snipers and looters. The game gives you the opportunity to experience a war with a completely new perspective.
Gameplay «This War of Mine» depends on the change of days and nights. Snipers do not allow you to leave the shelter during the day, so you have to do other things - to rebuild their shelter, to trade, to take care of the survivors. At night, choosing one of the unique locations, you can send someone to look for provisions that will help you stay alive.
Make decisions based on their moral principles. Try to preserve all of their people or sacrifice someone to improve the chances of the others. During the war, there are no good or bad decisions, there are only task - to survive. The sooner you realize this, the better.

I was intrigued by This War of Mine´s attempts to portray the consequences of war in a way that games have largely ignored in the past. The fact that the psychological and emotional challenges of living under such horrifying conditions are something you have to consider as you struggle gives me added hope that it might treat its hefty and important subject matter with the gravity and complexity that it deserves.
