Windows Server 2019 Essentials comes with a single license that includes CALs (up to 25 users/50 devices), lower pricing, and the ability to run traditional apps.
License for 1 physical or virtual server (1-2 CPUs). Can also be used as a primary server in a multi-server environment for small businesses.

Windows Server 2019 Essentials includes new hardware support and improvements such as support for Azure Active Directory through AAD Connect, new Windows Server 2019 Standard options, memory migration services, and more. Windows Server 2019 Essentials does not support backup or remote network access.

If configured as a domain controller, Essentials Windows Server 2019 must be the only domain controller, performs all FSMO master roles, and cannot have two-way relationships with other Active Directory domains.
