In 1956-1957, students of the BTV Academy developed a diploma project for installing a loading mechanism for heavy tanks IS-3 and T-10. In the version for the IS-3, a double-row magazine-type ammunition rack was provided. The crew was reduced to three people: commander, gunner, driver. Due to the placement of the loading mechanism, the design of the tower was changed. The work on the project stopped at the stage of preliminary design.
