Description:
The spring offensive of British troops in Tunisia was stopped on the outskirts of Mount Jebel al-Ahmera (Longstop Hill) by the forces of the German 5th Panzer Army. German troops took up defensive positions on key hills along the highway leading to the capital of Tunisia. Despite fierce enemy resistance, elements of the British 78th Infantry Division (78th "Battleaxe" Division), supported by Churchill tanks from the North Irish Horse regiment, are advancing along the highway.
