It´s 1962, and NASA is trying to send a man to the moon. In a remote corner of Siberia, a Soviet cosmonaut is heading in the opposite direction. Comrade Ivan Ivanovich is dumped into an extinct volcano in his research capsule "Little Orpheus" to explore the center of the Earth. He disappears quickly.

Three years later, he shows up claiming to have saved the world. He also lost the atomic bomb that powered Little Orpheus. He is taken to a top-secret bunker deep under the Ural Mountains to interrogate the formidable General Yurkov, a man so frightening that even Stalin would not buy him a drink. The general rolls up his sleeves, fixes a steely gaze on Ivan and says: “So... Where have you been, comrade? And where is my bomb? And Ivan looks him straight in the eye and says, ”Well, General, you may not believe what happened to me, but I will do everything in my power. Because it happened like this...”
