Description:
On November 25, 1942, part of the Blade battle group, consisting of the American 1st Tank Battalion, attacked the German positions in the Shuigi Pass area. Despite the stubborn resistance of the German troops and the support of aviation, the pass was captured by the forces of company A / 1 tbn. Tanks of C / 1 TBN company captured the bridge at Teburba and attacked the German airfield at Dzhedeida, destroying over 20 aircraft and about 36 vehicles. After this raid, the tanks of the battalion took up defensive positions at the pass. The German command assembled a battle group under the leadership of Major Witzig, which was supposed to counterattack the American positions at the Schuigi Pass.
