Take on the Long Island Rail Road in the New York area by driving a classic M3 series electric train for Train Sim World! with the support of the New York City Transportation Authority (MTA), purchased 770 M1 series electric trains built by Budd and General Electric factories. Trains of the M1 series were nicknamed "Metropolitan" (from the English phrase "metropolitan service" - urban and suburban transportation) and immediately became the main workhorses on the electrified lines of the LIRR network. Between 1984 and 1986, as the network grew and the share of electrified tracks increased, the LIRR and MTA again turned to the Budd factory and ordered 174 of the same M3 series electric trains. The LIRR M3 cars, made of stainless steel, are 85 feet long. Four traction motors with a capacity of 160 hp each. With. mounted on General Steel GSI trolleys, with DC power supplied from the conductor rail. The trains are formed from two-car sections and travel at speeds of up to 80 miles per hour (129 km/h) on the LIRR route. Painted in yellow, gray and silver, the LIRR M3 and M1 electric trains have become classics of American railroads, and, even after M1 train decommissioning in 2007, the M3 series has maintained its position and will continue to operate on the line for several more years.
