Introduction
For centuries, domestic and foreign experience of criminal justice has repeatedly argued that some measures of increasing the punishment it is impossible to reduce the number of crimes committed and to ensure their full detection.
Given this experience, the Russian legislation where necessary resorts to incentive norms, which offer the citizens to voluntarily stop criminal activity guaranteed exemption from punishment, to show active repentance, mitigating or eliminating the responsibility for their actions. Among these standards are the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Introduction to the Criminal Code such articles significantly affected the number and nature of the crimes committed, as clearly evidenced by the statistics of criminal practices expressed in the decisions of the court for a variety of cases.
This topic is particularly relevant in today's Russia in connection with the huge amount of crime sweeping the country and the desire of the state to somehow reduce their number.
